During WWII the gubmint of these here very fine United States did indeed have cause to operate one very secretive and mostly hush hush kinda mining operation in the southern part of California. It's called the Pacifica Silica Quarry and produced some enormous quartz points essential to some top secret program absolutely vital to America's war effort. Now although the crystals there were sought for their vibratory abilities please don't assume that they possessed any particular "vibratrional energies".
As I stated they were quartz crystals. Big ol' gigantical momma honkin' jammies indeed, but good ol' SiO2 none the less. Different in size only from most any crystal you might spy on the key chain of your typical middle aged "I was at Woodstock" lady.
So "why" you may wonder, "were these crystals so sought after by the arsenal of democracy?" How was it that the fate of the entire free world hinged upon the contribution of these remarkable geological specimens?
For the answer to that we need to examine that curios ability of quartz to convert energy from one form to another. You see, our friend the humble quartz crystal is enslaved all around us doing the bidding of its Babylonian masters faithfully and without hesitation or complaint.
When one applies physical force to a quartz crystal some of the energy is converted into an electrical current. The piezoelectric effect. Conversely, applying an electromagnetic field to a crystal will cause it to vibrate, and vibrate at an extraordinarily steady and predictable frequency to boot. That vibration by the way is an expression of mechanical energy.
The battery in a quartz watch energizes a tiny micro crystal whose steady vibrations keep perfect time for millennia. The silicon wafer chip in your computer is an extraordinarily cleverly engineered synthetic quartz crystal whose structure facilitates it assuming myriad on/off positions within its molecular crystalline latticework.
Oh, and the giant crystals from the Pacifica Silica Quarry? They were deployed in ships and submarines to locate and destroy other ships and submarines. They were installed in the hull with an enormous electromagnetic coil around the crystal. When the coil was jolted with power the crystal would vibrate. PING!!!!!PING!!!!!PING!!!!! Sonar operators could then echolocate the enemy vessels by the return signals and blow them into naval jelly.
See? Crystals really do have some practical uses and they're not just a bunch of meta-
physical healy-feely flapdoodle after all. I'll just hang on to my collection and see what else evolves.

Re: The Inescapable Vibrating Quartz Crystals
Wed, May 17, 2006 - 6:04 PMbeautiful post. I wasn't questioning the vibrational significance of quartz but now that its there in front of me I am particularly drawn to picking up a good rock to channel energy to (or through). That is so interesting about this mine in CA, so I guess that is in Pacifica. I would love to check it out, do you know if it is still around and working or what now?

Re: The Inescapable Vibrating Quartz Crystals
Thu, May 18, 2006 - 6:38 AMThe entrance to the mine is still accessible, though the stopes are all filled in. It's down in or near San Diego county I think, My freind Art ("The King") took me there. We collected lots of enormous black tourmalines the size of intitutional soup cans that were just sticking out of the walls. There is also a good deal of beautiful asterated ("star-fire") rose quartz and we hit pockets of smoky quartz all shot through with needle fine tourmies. oh yeah, the walls are just freckled with a host of rare and little known micromineral specimens most of which are hot (naturally radioactive) as hell!! So yeah the place is still out there in the desert like two miles beyond where they've been dumping trash out back of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's cult compound next door to Vanessa Redgrave's desert hideout if thats any help.
You know the whole short term memory thing........ -

Sat, May 20, 2006 - 7:25 PMthats so interesting. do the radioactive rocks glow? i have no idea where all those places are but i will definitly look them up for a place that cool. that sounds like a a real adventure! -

Southern Pacific Silica Quarry
Mon, June 19, 2006 - 10:35 PMDirections: To get to this site take Highway 215 South from the Highway 91 towards San Diego, California. Take Highway 74 East towards Hemet. Turn left at Menifee Road and proceed north until you come to Mountain Avenue (blacktop road). Turn right and proceed to Gunther Road (about 1.2 miles). The road curves sharply right and at this point a dirt road proceeds north towards a church and some homes. Follow this road for about 0.3 miles and stay left and up the hill. for 1.8 miles. Keep heading towards the power line towers to the east. Your direction will change several times but dont worry. Just get to the power lines. Follow this road to the north and stop when you see an obvious hump and primitive road on the left (about 0.3 miles). Park here and hike to the west and you will see the quarry and dumps. Better to leave your vehicle on the pole line road. There are also a lot of small pegmatites down the valley to the north which can be checked out by hiking. -

Re: The Inescapable Vibrating Quartz Crystals
Wed, June 13, 2007 - 10:28 PMHello, I am curious where you sourced this information on the world war two Crystal Coiled Sonar.
Have you read about the Mantaug Project and Philadelphia experiment. The mishaps with the militaries superconductivity testing.
Wondering if Quartz was used in those tests even though not stated in the books...
This is interesting timing reading what you wrote about Quartz and energy transmission. Had a dream recently that I found a very large smokey quartz phantom with a lightning bolt naturally etched on to one of the sides. Come to find out a few days later that my brother had also dreamt that I found crystals that had something to do with Lightning. Needless to say, Been trying to find meaning behind the dream. Definitely was intrigued reading your article because of the implications..
Take care
